Toowoomba brothers face off in Imparja Cup clash
Toowoomba brothers Sam and Brendan Doggett played in opposing teams for the first time this week to represent their Imparja Cup sides NSW and QLD.
The fast bowlers joined the best male and female Indigenous cricketers from across Australia for the annual journey to Alice Springs to compete in the all-Indigenous cricket carnival the Imparja Cup which runs from 9-14 February 2015.
Older brother 23-year-old Sam Doggett was picked up by the NSW side when he recently moved from Toowoomba to Sydney for work.
The Doggett brothers went head to head in the tournament’s second round with younger brother 19-year-old Brendan, who is also the BBL Brisbane Heat’s Community Rookie, taking two wickets from 14 deliveries and helping his side achieve victory over NSW.
The brothers spoke to media this week to discuss their experience at the 2015 Imparja Cup and how they will go competing for the tournament’s title in opposing teams.
